WWE has shared some special footage of what went down in Dickies Arena after Money In The Bank went off the air with the returning John Cena addressing the Texas crowd.
Cena made his hotly anticipated return to WWE at the end of the Money In The Bank pay-per-view to confront Roman Reigns. Reigns had defeated Edge to retain his WWE Universal Championship thanks in no small part to his former Shield brother, Seth Rollins. Rollins interfered on Reigns’ behalf after he has engaged Edge in a war of words in recent weeks. Seth Rollins has made clear his unhappiness that Edge was able to return after a prolonged absence and walk into a title match while Rollins had to attempt to gain one by competing in the men’s Money In The Bank match.
After the match Reigns was left in the ring with Special Counsel Paul Heyman as Rollins and Edge brawled through the crowd. Reigns told the WWE Universe it was time to acknowledge him before Cena’s music hit to a rapturous reception. John Cena made his trademark entrance then stepped up to Reigns before delivering his ‘You Can’t See Me’ taunt right in The Tribal Chief’s face.
WWE has now released footage from after the cameras stopped rolling on the pay-per-view as John Cena addressed his many fans in attendance.
Cena told them:
“You guys tell me how much I suck – man that feels good! I see this guy’s sign over there it says, ‘Cena shows up – we cheer!’ – it’s like bizarro world, what’s going on?! I just wanted to come out here and let Roman Reigns know that I was back, and I certainly wanted to come out here and let all of you know about that. And I promise you that it’s not a one-night-only, but what’s special to me is it’s the first night.”
“As always, I want to thank all of the WWE superstars for putting their lives and bodies on the line to entertain you, but most importantly, I missed you guys, I really, really missed you guys. As much as I’m thankful and grateful for them, man I love you guys and I really, really missed you and thank you so much for being here tonight and making this moment special for me and special for everybody in here – thank you so much everyone – have a good night!”
John Cena’s return to WWE has been the cause of much speculation for weeks with the sixteen-time world champion heavily rumoured to be Roman Reigns’ opponent in the main event of SummerSlam.
