What Did Sting Say To AEW Fans After Dynamite Went Off The Air?

Sting addressed the AEW fans in Huntsville, Alabama after Dynamite went off the air.

The final Dynamite before Revolution on February 28th will go down in history as the final appearance of The Icon on weekly TV as an active performer. Making the appearance a memorable one, Sting descended from the rafters to fight off The Young Bucks, who attacked Darby Allin and Ric Flair in the main event segment before the Hall of Famer made the save.

Standing tall with Allin and Flair as Dynamite went off the air, the Hall of Famer remained in the ring and spoke to the live fans. As captured by fan footage in the arena, The Icon acknowledged that this wasn’t the first time that he had descended from above in Huntsville, going on to thank the fans and the two men he was sharing the ring with:

“I’m not only doing my last Dynamite. I’m doing my last Dynamite in Huntsville. I’m doing my last Dynamite with Darby Allin as my tag team partner. I’m doing my last Dynamite with ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair right next to me. When you say ‘Thank you, Sting,’ thank you. Thank you, Huntsville, Alabama. That’s the second time I’ve actually come out of the ceiling in this building.

The first time, I threw the bat to Dallas Page, so there’s some good history right here. I’m glad to be back right here. What can I say after all these years? What can I say? Anything that I would say is just kind of trivial when I really mean thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I could not have done any of this without this tag team partner right here, Darby Allin. I would have never been put on the map if it wasn’t for this man right here, ‘The Nature Boy.’ I love you, Huntsville. Thank you, thank you,”

The Wrestling World Thanks Sting As Retirement Nears

The former World Champion will write the final chapter in his historic legacy at Revolution on March 3rd, teaming with Darby Allin to defend the Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks. Top names in AEW have spoken about what The Icon’s legacy means to them and how he has been an influence on their own careers and fandoms. Long-time partner Darby Allin recently revealed how he found out he would be paired with the Hall of Famer and how pleasant the first interaction was. Tony Khan spoke about how he put together the last match, reminding Sting that he deserved this honour.

Samoa Joe also commented on the legacy of Sting, noting that it would never be replicated. Meanwhile, Malakai Black has reflected on Sting being part of “one of the coolest things” in his career.
