Cody Rhodes competed at the Hell In A Cell premium live event with a torn pectoral muscle, but what caused the injury to The American Nightmare?
At Hell In A Cell, Cody Rhodes took on Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins for the third time in as many months since Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38. Taking their rivalry inside the Hell In A Cell structure, Rhodes picked up a hat trick of wins over the former WWE Champion despite Seth Rollins targeting Rhodes’ injury. Cody Rhodes finished Rollins off with two Cross Rhodes and a symbolic sledgehammer shot.
However, the match stood out due to the massive bruise on Cody Rhodes’ chest as a result of a very recent serious injury. WWE had announced on social media prior to the event that Rhodes had suffered a torn pectoral tendon:
“BREAKING: @CodyRhodes suffered a partially torn right pectoral tendon during a brawl with @WWERollins this past Monday on #WWERaw. While weight training in preparation, the tendon tore completely off the bone. However, Rhodes has vowed to still step inside #HIAC tonight.”

Cody Rhodes’ status moving forward now seems uncertain with no word on if the American Nightmare will have to miss a significant amount of in-ring time.
