Were CM Punk’s Shots At The Young Bucks Approved By AEW Management?

CM Punk on AEW Collision

CM Punk made his triumphant return to AEW on the debut episode of Collision on June 17th in Chicago.

The star received a hero’s welcome and wasted little time in addressing the controversy around his absence. During a promo discussing his comeback and plans for the future, Punk took aim at the Young Bucks.

“You know what David Zaslav calls me?… ‘One Bill Phil.’ That’s because I am the one true, genuine article in a business of counterfeit Bucks…”

He added:

“You want an apology? Here it is. I’m sorry that the only people softer than you are the wrestlers you like.”

The comments immediately sparked speculation that Punk had gone rogue just minutes after returning to the company, adding more fuel to an already combustible situation. However, it appears that the truth is much less explosive. Dave Meltzer writing in a Wrestling Observer Newsletter update noted that the lines were cleared by management beforehand, so there were no nasty surprises.

CM Punk Heading To AEW Dynamite

Fresh off the back of his return at Collision, a report has claimed that CM Punk will be appearing on the June 21st episode of Dynamite. Although he hasn’t been publicly announced, those close to the star believe that he will be on the show.

The Elite is set to be absent, with their storylines continuing via pre-taped video segments.

Dynamite is set to come live from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
