Wendi Richter has been informed of the challenges of “Timeless” Toni Storm and is more than happy to answer if the price is right.
Prior to Mercedes Mone making her AEW debut at the Big Business special, Storm was asked about a potential free agent who might be signing with the company soon and if she had any interest in the match. With the question obviously being about The CEO, the Women’s Champion chose a different former champion to target at the Worlds End press conference:
“OK, here we go. Tony, Anthony… I don’t care how much you’re going to yell at me for this after, but yes, there is quite the free agent out there. Isn’t there? There’s money written all over it…Wendi Richter — I’m gonna f*ck you up.” H/t to Cultaholic.
On subsequent programming, both Storm and Mariah May have continually referenced Richter and likely assumed that there would be no response. Unfortunately for the “Timeless” one, she may have made a new enemy.
While appearing at a signing for High Spots, the former Women’s Champion said she’s open to the challenge if Tony Khan can provide a big enough payday:
“I didn’t even know she had been calling me out. Someone told me she’s been doing it on a regular basis. Well, money does talk. If they can cough up enough money, I’d take her on. I’d even give her the first swing. Bring it, Toni. You think you can beat me? I’d like to see it. I’m not afraid.” H/t to Fightful.
Who Is Wendi Richter?
Trained at The Fabulous Moolah’s wrestling school, Richter signed with WWE in 1983. Earning her first Women’s Championship in 1984, Richter defeated Moolah at the The Brawl to End It All special on MTV. Dropping the title to Leilani Kai, Richter became Women’s Champion for a second time when she defeated Kai at the first WrestleMania.
In 1985, Richter was a part of “The Original Screwjob”, which saw her drop the title to “The Spider” at a live event in Madison Square Garden. Following a fast count being delivered by the referee, The Spider was revealed to be Moolah. The Screwjob was reportedly due to disagreements with Vince McMahon over her contract. Richter was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010.
According to a new update, Toni Storm is seemingly safe from Wendi Richter.
