While Chris Jericho’s AEW status is uncertain, a major name admits that the company needs him.

Chris Jericho has been off-screen for quite some time now, sparking rumors of his AEW departure. A possible WWE return to wind up his career also became a topic of discussion.

Meanwhile, the veteran voice of pro wrestling, Jim Ross, hopes The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla stays in AEW. The inaugural AEW World Champion was evidently the biggest name Tony Khan had when the promotion was formed in 2019. But lately, he has taken a backseat.

Jim Ross Says AEW Needs Chris Jericho, Names Potential New Role For Him After Retirement

On Grilling JR, Jim Ross noted that Chris Jericho is a “born coach,” so even if the first-ballot future Hall of Famer retires from in-ring competition soon, Ross feels he can transition into that role. Furthermore, being one of the revered players in the game in a career spanning across four decades, Jericho has tremendous value in the AEW community.

[Chris Jericho has] got a great following. He’s always treated his fans respectfully, his quality of work maintains itself. People want to see more of him. He’s smart as a whip. He’s a real businessman.

I’ve said this before, I hope that he doesn’t leave AEW. We need him. We can use his skill set, his leadership. I see him countless times talking to some kid in the corner and talking about their character or their presentation. He’s got time for everybody and he’s smart as hell. He’s a student of the game in the true sense of the word. He’s a born coach.

Meanwhile, the former World Heavyweight Champion finally addressed his next move: is it a return to WWE or is he staing in AEW?
