“We Did Let The People Down”: Jey Uso’s Brutal Assessment Of His WrestleMania 40 Match

Jey Uso has addressed his recent match at WrestleMania 40.

For the first time in 15 years, a brother vs. brother match took place on The Grandest Stage as Jey Uso faced off against his brother Jimmy. Unfortunately, many felt that the match failed to deliver and has been cited as the worst match across the weekend. According to the Raw star, he is also aware that it could have been better.

Speaking with Gorilla Position, Uso admitted that he wanted the match to be “a banger” and feels that they let the fans down with their match, which was also the victim of a timing issue. However, Uso also added that he is happy that he got to compete against his brother in a one-on-one match:

“I just said this to someone, I do kind of feel like we did let the people down. [Really, you feel that?] Yeah because I wanted to go out there and have a straight-up banger too. I wanted to do the wrestling part, let alone make sure the emotion part was there. It was just a time issue. You’ve just got to play your position on the team. That’s what happened. But I am still happy that I got a singles match on WrestleMania with my brother, that’s the big picture. So I will always have me and him in the face-off at WrestleMania. I’m gonna frame a picture, it’s marked off our box. I just wish we could have went ham the way I know we can.”

The match lasted 11 minutes. When asked if the time issues are relayed to him on the night, Uso confirmed that is the case:

“Sure, oh yeah. [Someone said] ‘Yo, they went over this many minutes, sorry.’ It’s all good, just go out there and handle business.”

What’s Next For Jey Uso?

Now a breakout singles star following his exit from The Bloodline in the summer of 2023, Uso is once again challenging for a top singles championship as he is the number one contender for Damian Priest’s World Heavyweight Championship. The match will take place live in France on May 4th at the upcoming Premium Live Event. Jey Uso earned the title shot in a fatal 4-way and was victorious thanks to an assist from CM Punk.

In the same interview, Jey Uso revealed who he thought was currently The Bloodline’s Tribal Chief.
