“We All Love Him”: Former AEW Champion Reacts To Sting’s Retirement

Sting will be greatly missed by the AEW locker room.

On October 18th, Sting announced that he would be having his final match at AEW Revolution 2024. Although many knew that The Icon would be calling time on his legendary career in the near future, the news still came as a shock.

While appearing on Busted Open Radio, former AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa stated how she reacted to the news regarding the Hall of Famer and commented on some of Sting’s later matches:

“When I first heard of it, I’m not going to lie, I was sad. But it’s very courageous of him because the past couple of matches he’s been in, they’ve been very physical. He is no spring chicken… He’s taking some hits, man.”

Rosa continued, stating how admired The Icon is among the roster and wished that he could have continued:

“It’s his decision. If he felt that he could and [wanted] to wrestle, he would have continued to wrestle for a long time. He’s in great shape, he’s probably one of the most classy people I’ve worked with. A man of God, most definitely. It is sad because we all love him.”

Rosa would also state that if it were up to her then Darby Allin should be the final opponent of the former World Champion.

Sting Is Not Taking It Easy

Despite being in his 60s, The Icon still looks and moves great even if that does involve executing some dangerous manoeuvres. Frequently teaming with Darby Allin, many would expect the former TNT Champion to be the one diving off of balconies and crashing through tables. However, as seen more often than not, the veteran is seen jumping from great heights onto his opponents down below.

Although it has been stated on multiple occasions that it has been the Hall of Famer’s choice to perform the high-risk moves, one fellow Hall of Famer questioned what Sting was thinking with a dive that could have gone disastrously wrong.
