A former WWE Champion has claimed they have “unfinished business” with Brock Lesnar after their last match and rivalry didn’t go as they had hoped.
When Bobby Lashley stepped into the ring with Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, the All-Mighty got a huge match to tick off his bucket list. For many years fans had been clamouring for the bout, the story even seemed to be ready made.
Both men are accomplished amateur wrestlers, have competed in MMA and if nothing else, have no right to be as athletic as they are given their size.
However, when the match finally happened, the story leading into it left some fans underwhelmed as did the contest itself. Lashley was more of a stepping stone for Lesnar as his feud with Roman Reigns continued to simmer, rather than a standalone threat to The Beast.
During an appearance on the Out of Character podcast, Lashley reflected on the clash with Lesnar. He explained that the match wasn’t what he wanted, and feels that with more of a story, the two could have accomplished much more.
“It wasn’t the match I wanted because, it’s like, there’s a lot of things that are involved there. Man, for me with him, it’s a story. It’s a bigger story than just a couple of weeks and then we’re on the pay-per-view [premium live event]. It’s more than just that. I want to train for that match like I’m training for a fight. I need six weeks or eight weeks.”
Continuing on, Lashley said that he has “unfinished business” with his rival.
“There’s a lot of stuff that we could have done in that match. People want to see us fight, people wanna see us wrestle, people want to see us in professional wrestling. They want to see it all. We could have given them all of that within a couple of months, but we didn’t. So there’s still a lot of unfinished business there.”
Bobby Lashley is currently in the midst of his third reign as United States Champion. The All-Mighty defeated Theory to claim the gold at Money In The Bank, and retained over the same rival at SummerSlam.
It has been announced that Lashley will defend his US Title against Ciampa on the August 8th edition of Monday Night Raw.
