Warner Bros. Discovery have reportedly given their thoughts on the recent ratings for AEW Dynamite.
Currently broadcast every Wednesday on the WBD network TBS, Dynamite has gone through a more turbulent period in the past few months with viewership on a decline compared to the previous year and the promotion yet to achieve more than 1 million viewers in 2024.
On top of many top stars renegotiating new contracts, 2024 is also the year that multiple media rights deals are set to end in wrestling and top companies are looking for a new home for their shows. Although rival promotion WWE has secured new deals for all 3 brands, All Elite Wrestling remains in talks with WBD as the exclusivity window is set to close in July. Although Tony Khan remains selective with what details he will disclose to the public, a new report has provided a positive update.
As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, a source within the network has said that they are pleased with the trajectory of the recent broadcasts:
We are told by a WBD source that they have been very happy seeing Dynamite’s audience, demo and rating rising every week over the last four weeks.
It is also added that Khan was at the Activate Conference in Santa Barbara, California earlier in the week and took part in a panel discussion.
AEW Denies Negative Report
Towards the end of May, a concerning report stated that negotiations were not as positive as Tony Khan had made them out to be and that he was “disappointed” with the offer. The next day, AEW denied the report and claimed that it was a “planted piece.”
