Wardlow Reveals His WWE Tryout Almost Made Him Quit Wrestling

AEW’s powerhouse Wardlow has commented on his tryout with WWE and how the experience almost made him give up on professional wrestling.

Wardlow has made quite a name for himself in All Elite Wrestling since he debuted by the side of MJF. Since then Mr. Mayhem has stood at the side of MJF in Inner Circle and The Pinnacle, often having to fight the three-time Dynamite Diamond winner’s battles for him.

Now Wardlow has discussed his tryout with WWE on the Insight podcast with Chris Van Vliet and says despite nailing the tryout, the company just weren’t interested in him:

“Almost the opposite. I mean I aced the tryout with flying colours, and they didn’t want me. For the first time in my life, I went ‘Oh, well maybe this isn’t going to happen. But fortunately, I stuck with it, and I was determined to make it happen. I thank God every day that AEW came about. But yeah, being denied, that was a unique experience and a unique feeling. But it put me where I needed to be, so I am happy for it.”

The tension between the War Dog and MJF has ramped up in recent weeks as fans seem to have responded positively to Wardlow’s ‘powerbomb symphony’ that he has unleashed on many opponents, including CM Punk.
