Since capturing the TNT Championship on the July 6th edition of AEW Dynamite no one has come close to dethroning Wardlow, but that all changed at Full Gear.
The giant star had been teaming with Samoa Joe, but that partnership went out of the window on a recent episode of Dynamite after he claimed he would win every title in AEW. This upset Joe who was standing only feet away, ROH World Television Title in hand, leading him to attack his one time friend.
Wardlow Undone By Samoa Joe
All of this chaos, mixed with a determined Powerhouse Hobbs who decided he wanted championship gold led to a Three-Way-Match on November 19th.
As predicted, the action was hard-hitting with bad intentions. Hobbs took an early advantage, but Wardlow fled back (literally) delivering something akin to Jeff Hardy’s Whisper In The Wind. He followed this up with a Swanton Bomb, but Joe broke up the pin with a Senton of his own.
It wasn’t long before the action headed to the outside, and it was Samoa Joe’s turn to throw caution to the wind, launching himself to the outside onto Wardlow and Hobbs. Back inside the ropes, Mr Mayhem hit two huge Powerbombs on Hobbs, but he was quickly felled by Joe and the TNT Title belt.
With Wardlow knocked to the mat, Joe locked in the Kokina Clutch on Hobbs who passed out, handing the former WWE star the gold.
Elsewhere on the show, Saraya won her first match in five years by pinning Brit Baker. Meanwhile, The Elite returned to action in a bid to win the World Trios Titles. However, despite being the favourites, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks were defeated by Death Triangle.
