Wardlow On His Dream Opponent

Wardlow

Wardlow recently appeared on AEW’s podcast ‘Unrestricted’, and revealed the two professional wrestlers he would most like to face.

Wardlow, who debuted at AEW’s All Out pay-per-view in 2019, was answering questions sent in by fans with hosts Tony Schiavone and Aubrey Edwards. Among other questions, Wardlow was asked who he would face a hypothetical match against his dream opponent, whether they be a man, woman, alive or dead. After taking a moment to think, Wardlow replied:

“This is like asking you’re favourite song or favourite movie or favourite match, there’s not just one. I would say the top two would be Rock, and the other would be Brock. Aside from that, I kind of already had one of my dream matches, being Cody. Not I would like to, I need to. I have two losses, Hangman and Cody, and I won’t find peace until I avenge those.”

Trained in both boxing and jujitsu, Wardlow began his Professional Wrestling career on the independent circuit in March 2014. The upcoming star wrestled for several independent promotions before making his AEW debut attacking Cody Rhodes, before facing him in a steel cage in a losing effort on episode of Dynamite in February 2020. Wardlow would go on to align himself with MJF before becoming a part of Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle.

Discussing his dream opponents The Rock and Brock Lesnar, both of which are known for their respective legendary runs in WWE, Wardlow also recalled his WWE tryout in 2019, and being shocked by the behaviour of other athletes at the Performance Centre:

“People know that I did have a tryout, and I smoked that tryout. I mean, I was literally the only dude there in a suit. That was mind blowing. Dudes are there in shorts and T shirts. That’s because they’re not recruiting Wrestlers, they’re recruiting ex NFL athletes or college Wrestlers. People who don’t watch Wrestling, don’t like Wrestling. The comments that these people were making made me sick to my stomach, that they were there getting an opportunity.”

Wardlow also expressed interest in facing current AEW World Champion Kenny Omega.
