Wardlow might have spent years at the heel of MJF but now with his former boss seemingly going AWOL, The War Dog couldn’t care less where he is.
Wardlow burst onto the AEW scene as MJF’s bodyguard, helping his boss out of scrapes and fighting his battles for him when necessary for over two years.
Mr. Mayhem followed MJF into the Inner Circle of Chris Jericho and when the Long Island-natives true plan came to light, Wardlow made an able lieutenant to MJF in The Pinnacle alongside FTR and Shawn Spears.
However, trouble was brewing for MJF and the more he mistreated his hired muscle, the more fans got behind Wardlow. Things came to a head at Revolution during MJF’s Dog Collar Match with CM Punk. With MJF looking to Wardlow for help and his Dynamite Diamond ring, Wardlow was not forthcoming, instead choosing to leave the ring for Punk to use as he wished.
This led to a feud between the two that saw MJF utilise scores of security to prevent his former charge from getting his hands on him. Eventually, a match was signed between the two men to face at Double Or Nothing but a bigger storm was brewing in AEW.
MJF missed an advertised meet and greet ahead of the pay-per-view as rumours swirled that he wouldn’t show up to Double Or Nothing as disagreements with AEW boss Tony Khan intensified.
MJF did show up, losing in short order to Wardlow after receiving ten powerbombs. Despite being stretchered out, MJF made an appearance on the next episode of Dynamite, laying bare his frustrations and daring Khan to “fire me you f*cking mark.”
MJF has subsequently been removed from all advertising and promotional material by the company and his future remains uncertain.
Tony Khan refused to comment on the MJF situation after Forbidden Door and it seems the stars of AEW are doing likewise as Wardlow was asked about his ex-boss during a K&S WrestleFest signing, but he simply replied:
“Next question.”
Wardlow was then asked if he even knew where MJF was and says he doesn’t nor does he care:
“I know nothing about nothing. Nobody knows. I don’t care. I personally don’t care. Nobody knows.”
