Wales fans are devastated after their loss to Iran, and are using wrestling analogies to express their pain.
Last week on Friday, November 25, 2022, Wales faced off against Iran in the FIFA World Cup after getting a 1-1 draw with the United States of America. Coming in high, it would be anything but in the game against the Iranians, with the Welsh suffering a 2-0 defeat.
Wales Fans Express Their Pain Through WWE
With the loss to Iran, Wales now has to pull off a massive upset over England on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in order to advance in the FIFA World Cup, and some fans of the Welsh may feel the Iranian pain until then. After their loss, a lot of angry and disappointed Wales fans expressed their opinions, but one fan in particular was so devastated that he compared it to a legendary result in professional wrestling.
The fan compared Wales’ defeat to Iran to that of Bob Backland losing a WWE Championship match against “The Iron Sheik” back in 1983 at Madison Square Garden. After landing his Camel Clutch finishing move, Sheik won the belt after beating Backlund, and then eventually his championship run was ended by icon Hulk Hogan.
The fan said to TalkSPORT:
“I think for Iran, it’s probably their biggest victory since The Iron Sheik beat Bob Backlund at WrestleMania. I just think now we’ve got to go on and we’ve got to beat England.”
