In a new interview with BT Sport, Wade Barrett has revealed that he feels close to being ready to make his in-ring return.
Having recently said that he’d be tempted by a match with current WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, Wade Barrett has hinted once again that he may be getting back in the ring.
"We're pro-wrestlers, we're never done, there's definitely some left in the tank."
"I feel like if I want to, or the opportunity that excites me comes up I'll be ready."@StuBennett won't rule out a return to the ring, but his focus is on commentary in NXT… for now 👀 pic.twitter.com/iwjECVXB1P

The Preston native commented that “there’s a lot left in the tank” while also dispelling doubts about his age:
“I am only 40 years old… there are guys that are kind of the mainstays of that show right now, that are doing some of the best work in their career that are actually older than me.”
Barrett then went even further, suggesting that fitness-wise it wouldn’t take long for him to get back up to speed.
“I feel like if I want to, or if the time is right, or the opportunity that excites me comes up, that i’m close to being ready to go. I’m certainly not in in-ring shape at the moment, i’m in good shape, but to be in in-ring shape I probably need three months of knocking out that ring rust before I step back into the ring,”
Although the former Intercontinental Champion was also quick to add that his focus is currently firmly on this work in the NXT announce booth.
However, the fact that Barrett is even talking about getting back in the ring, shows that it’s certainly a possibility, and that a huge ‘Battle of Britain’ type match up with McIntyre is far from out of the question.
