Wade Barrett has suggested that WWE would be well served to sign fellow British star Nick Aldis.
Nick Aldis officially left the NWA in January 2023, citing issues with the direction of the company. After announcing that he would be leaving in November, the NWA suspended Aldis, meaning he didn’t appear at any further tapings. This was despite the star himself stating on social media that he was prepared to honour his existing commitments.
The former TNA/IMPACT Wrestling star is a two-time Worlds Heavyweight Champion, with his second reign recognised as lasting 1,043 days, the sixth longest in history.
Speaking to Alistair McGeorge for The Metro
“I think first of all, he’s a fantastic talker, he’s got a great look, he’s a really good representative for this industry in general, and I love his classic throwback in-ring style. It reminds me a bit of Harley Race, kind of the pompous Englishman element adds to it as well. I’d love to see Nick involved.
He’s a guy I’ve got a lot of respect for, I think he’ll have gonna have success whatever he ends up doing, whether it’s on the independents, whether it’s going back to NWA, or to any other company – or hopefully one day, come over to WWE.
I think he’s got a lot he can contribute. In terms of supporters, I’m certainly on board as a supporter of Nick Aldis one day coming to WWE.”
Wade Barrett Open To In-Ring Return
Wade Barrett hasn’t wrestled since April 2016 and has only worked as a commentator since returning to WWE in 2020. However, it appears that he hasn’t closed the door on returning to the ring in the future.
Speaking elsewhere the former Intercontinental Champion revealed he could be tempted to lace up his boots one more time to face someone like Austin Theory.
