Kyle O’Reilly won’t have many Christmas cards to write this holiday season as yet another partner of his has done him dirty with Von Wagner turning on O’Reilly at NXT WarGames.
O’Reilly began an unlikely alliance with Von Wagner when the second generation star appeared at the beginning of the NXT 2.0 era. The partnership was by no means Kyle O’Reilly’s first in NXT as he had previously been a part of The Undisputed Era before being viciously turned on by Adam Cole.
Von Wagner and Kyle O’Reilly first teamed up on the 12th of October edition of NXT 2.0 as they defeated Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland. O’Reilly and Wagner claimed the number one contendership of the NXT Tag Team Championship when they defeated Legado del Fantasma on the 30th of November edition of NXT 2.0.
That set the duo on a collision course with NXT Tag Team Champions Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner of Imperium. The two teams met at NXT WarGames and in a closely fought bout that saw Aichner take to the skies and O’Reilly attempt multiple submissions, it was Imperium that came out on top.
Following the match, Von Wagner seemed to share the crowd’s appreciation for his tag team partner as they showed their appreciation and respect. Wagner’s face changed however and as Kyle O’Reilly turned back to face him he pounced towards the former NXT Tag Team Champion.
Kyle O’Reilly’s tales of betrayal may have served him well here as he was able to dodge the attack and put Vin Wagner on the canvas.
Now in what could be Kyle O’Reilly’s final NXT outing, the two former tag team partners will collide inside a solid steel cage on the 7th of December episode of NXT 2.0
