Von Wagner, a recent star of the rebooted NXT 2.0 brand made their unexpected SmackDown debut on Friday’s edition of the blue brand’s show.
Wagner appeared at the side of WWE officials Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville as they debated strengthening the teams for the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view.
With arms folded, Von Wagner remained silent as Sami Zayn interrupted Pearce and Deville, begging them to take Jeff Hardy out of the blue brand’s men’s team. Rather than do that, a match was made between Zayn and Hardy with the loser losing their spot. Sami Zayn may well wish he’d kept his mouth shut as Jeff Hardy picked up the win costing Zayn his Survivor Series place.
Von Wagner received the same treatment as Piper Niven when she debuted on Raw in the summer, with the announcers not acknowledging who he was although Pat McAfee noted the young star’s not inconsiderable presence.
Wagner debuted under his current ring name on television on the first episode of NXT 2.0 where he was part of the Fatal Four-Way match for the vacant NXT Championship. He shared the ring with LA Knight, Pete Dunne, and the man that won the NXT Title that night, Tommaso Ciampa.
Since then Wagner has been seen teaming up with former NXT Tag Team Champion Kyle O’Reilly with the pair most recently losing to Legado del Fantasma.
