Vince Russo has hit out at one match featured on WWE Raw despite it being popular with fans.
The April 10th episode of the show was heavily impacted by travel problems leading to numerous segments and matches being changed. It was reported under an hour before the show went live that 50% of the roster still hadn’t arrived at the venue.
One match that did make it on the air was a tag team clash between The Usos and Alpha Academy. The Usos were looking to bounce back from losing the Undisputed Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 39, while Otis and Chad Gable are former Raw Tag Team Champions.
The match lasted a little over 13 minutes and was a big hit with fans in the arena. In the end, it was The Usos who grabbed the win with a 1D despite a strong showing from Alpha Academy.
Speaking on Sportskeeda’s Legion of Raw, former WWE writer Vince Russo said that the match made no sense as it was easy to see who would win. In his assessment, the bout was a “house show match,” adding that he didn’t care.
“This is a house show match. The people are popping, and they are into it, and the Alpha Academy is never going to go over. So, I don’t care how many high spots they do, how many false finishes they do, I don’t care, they’re not going over.”
Vince Russo Praises Bray Wyatt
Speaking in the lead-up to WrestleMania 39, Russo spoke in glowing terms about absent WWE star Bray Wyatt. The veteran said that Wyatt was a “genius” and was actually being underutilised by WWE.
