At Elimination Chamber, Sami Zayn attempted to complete his fairytale story to reach the pinnacle of WWE by defeating Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Zayn gave his everything in front of a hometown crowd that cheered him to the rafters while showering The Tribal Chief with chants of “F**k you Roman!”.
However, it was not to be for the Underdog From The Underground as interference from Jimmy Uso and multiple chairshots from Reigns followed by a massive Spear ended Zayn’s dreams of glory.
Vince Russo claims WWE “masterfully” manipulated fans
Appearing on Legion of Raw, Vince Russo looked back on the match and praised the company for “manipulating the marks” through the storyline of Zayn and The Bloodline.
“I’m gonna give the WWE all the credit in the world because they have crafted this to manipulate the marks and the marks don’t even know that they’re getting manipulated.
“That’s how brain-dead you marks are, you have no idea. They have done it masterfully and here’s exactly what they’ve done and Chris, we called this months ago.”
Russo went on to compare Zayn’s story to Daniel Bryan’s rise to winning the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 30.
“Here’s what they’ve done bro, they get Sami in this big program with Roman Reigns, in his hometown, the whole nine yards.
“We said, ‘No way in the world are they putting Sami Zayn over Roman Reigns.’ They’re not gonna do that, bro.
“Vince McMahon is not gonna do that, they did it one time with Bryan Danielson, they’re not gonna do it with Sami Zayn for all the reasons that I say.”
Following his victory at Elimination Chamber, Reigns will next put his titles on the line against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.
