Former WWE, WCW, and TNA writer Vince Russo says that he would love to work with Bray Wyatt after what he sees as systemic WWE failures at producing his character.
Wyatt was a hot commodity in NXT when he adopted his cult-leader-esque persona. Leading his Family of Erick Rowan and Luke Harper, the three men made an immediate splash when they debuted together on the WWE main roster in July 2013.
For many fans, Wyatt began to lose his lustre after falling to defeat at the hands of John Cena at WrestleMania 30. That story was retold and formed the basis of The Fiend Bray Wyatt’s cinematic Firefly Fun House match with Cena at WrestleMania 36.
Wyatt has been part of some of WWE’s stranger moments in recent years. He battled Randy Orton in an infamous WWE Title match at WrestleMania 33 when images of bugs were superimposed onto the ring canvas at various points. This came after Orton had burned down Wyatt’s compound which housed the grave of his beloved ‘Sister Abigail.’
The firey feud between Orton and Wyatt was turned up a notch when they rekindled it years later. With Wyatt now a part-time Fiend and part-time children’s TV host, it was the former persona that met Orton in the ring at TLC 2020. In the closing moments of that event, Orton appeared to burn Wyatt alive in the middle of the ring.
Someone who is no stranger to the stranger side of wrestling is Vince Russo. Speaking on a Q and A on The Two Man Power Trip Patreon, the former WCW Champion gave his take on Wyatt and why he would like to work with him.
Russo explained:
“I’ve been out of the business now, it’s going on about 10 years that I’ve been out of the business. I would give anything to work one on one with Bray Wyatt. See now, if Vince McMahon was to offer me money as a consultant, ‘You work with Bray, you guys do whatever you want, you tell us every week what this character is doing.’ Bro, I would do that in a heartbeat because getting to work with somebody like that would be like an absolute honor. What they have done with that talent, literally, it breaks my heart. I feel so bad for the guy because the system has failed him. The system should not be failing you. The system should be helping you.”
Most recently Wyatt is looking forward to another fresh start after recent ally Alexa Bliss turned her back on The Fiend in his match against Orton at WrestleMania 37.
