A former WWE writer has claimed that a slap from Miss Elizabeth on WCW television was the hardest he had ever been hit in his life.
Miss Elizabeth was a beloved part of the wrestling world throughout the late eighties and early nineties. She is best remembered for her time working as a manager for her real-life husband Randy Savage as Savage reached the peak of pro wrestling when he won the WWF Championship.
When the Mega Powers exploded, Savage split from Elizabeth, seeking assistance from the sinister Sherri Martel instead. This led to an emotional reunion between Savage and Elizabeth at WrestleMania 7 after Savage lost a retirement match to Ultimate Warrior.
Eventually, Elizabeth made her way, as Savage had, to World Championship Wrestling. During her time there she aligned again with Savage – now her ex-husband – before turning on him to join Ric Flair. A stint in the nWo followed before she teamed up with Lex Luger.
On an episode of Writing with Russo the former WCW writer discussed working with Miss Elizabeth and says one slap from the usually mild-mannered Elizabeth left him with a dislocated jaw:
“There was a scene at WCW where Lex is down in the ring and wrestling, and Liz is down with her, right. I come out, bro, and I go out ringside, and I… scooped her up. This is [the] god’s honest truth. Bro, she slapped me so hard across the face. Bro, she dislocated my jaw. That’s how hard. I swear to god, that’s the hardest I’ve ever been hit in my life.”
Russo also discussed how despite being a fan of Miss Elizabeth during her heyday in WWE, they didn’t get along in WCW, and says he feels bad about that:
“I’ve got to be honest with you, I feel bad about all that because I was a big fan of hers and I did respect her. But I just thought for storyline purposes and the show, man, it would have just been so much cooler if we had her more involved because we never really saw her get involved.”
