Former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo has accused WWE of sabotaging Monday Night Raw as they look to take the show away from the USA Network.
Back in August, Russo claimed that he had been secretly working for USA as a consultant on Monday Night Raw. He said that he had held the position for two years, leaving just after WrestleMania 38, adding that he had been paid “very, very well.”
“Triple H Can’t Be That Bad” – Vince Russo
Speaking on Legion of RAW, Russo has now suggested that Triple H and WWE are deliberately “tanking” the ratings for Raw. The former WWE writer said that he knew USA were unhappy, and were getting “very vocal” about the situation.
“I think they’re purposely tanking this show. I am not joking; I am not kidding around when you look at the way they produce SmackDown compared to the way they produce this show what players go on SmackDown, what players go on this show. I knew USA was not happy, and they were getting very vocal.”
Russo said that Triple H was “going through the motions” until WWE’s contract with USA Network ends.
“And they are just going through the motions, waiting for this USA Network contract to be over. I am not making this up. I’m not over the top. You can’t just book a show of match after match after match for six months. You can’t. Triple H is not that bad, bro. He can’t be that bad.”
Vince Russo went on to reiterate his claims before adding that WWE are preparing to take Raw to a streaming service.
“Especially Chris, when I saw Angle was on SmackDown. Bro, I’m telling you, they are done with USA Network. They are purposely tanking this. They are going to take RAW to a streaming service, and they are going to charge you monthly to watch. It is by design, Chris because I can’t believe that Triple H is this inept. I can’t believe it, bro, and I won’t.”
The claims from Russo directly contradict a report from September which claimed that the USA Network were pleased with the direction of WWE and Raw following Vince McMahon’s departure from the company.
Vince Russo is best known for being WWE’s Head Writer from 1997 until 1999 when he joined WCW. Following his exit from WCW, Russo returned to WWE for two weeks in 2002, before leaving the company once more. In more recent years he worked with TNA/IMPACT Wrestling.
