WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is notorious for being a hard man to please but now two recently released former WWE stars say McMahon was always supportive of them.
The Bollywood Boyz, Samir and Sunil Singh were let go from their WWE contracts on the 25th of June along with a raft of other talents from the 205 Live roster as well as more established stars such as Tyler Breeze and Fandango.
Samir and Sunil will probably be most fondly remembered for their alliance with Jinder Mahal when Mahal shocked the world and became WWE Champion. In the process, he became the first man of Indian descent to hold the top prize in the pro wrestling world.
Following their release, The Bollywood Boyz have discussed their time in WWE with two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Sean Waltman on his Pro Wrestling 4 Life podcast. Samir began by discussing the pair’s relationship with the boss.
“Every meeting we had with Vince McMahon was amazing. He was always kind and appreciated everything we had done. The first time we were working after a bit, we came up in our pink gear and glasses. Vince walked right up to us and was like, ‘That’s f*cking money.’ He was always so good to us and that’s why we were always so appreciative. We were always on the right track and learning on the fly and getting ready.”
Sunil continued, referencing that WWE has been looking for Indian stars that they could push in that massive and relatively untapped market:
“They are looking for big Indian stars and the next breakout star. They’re trying, but we’re the only two Indian guys there that are TV ready and have the confidence that we can go in with anybody and deliver. In January at Superstar Spectacle, they put us in there with the new kids. They have a long way to go. We were told to shine them up and everyone was telling us in the back that we made them look like a million bucks. That’s our job. Being WWE TV-ready is a lot different than being a wrestler. A lot of them are still learning.”
“India is booming and we were ready and primed for whatever opportunity came to us and we know how to work and are charismatic guys.”
The Bollywood Boyz also recently had words of praise for Randy Orton. The two men spent a lot of time on the receiving end of Orton’s offence during his time feuding with Mahal over the WWE Title.
