Vince McMahon continues to be surrounded by controversy in the wake of Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE.
Curiously, Janel Grant’s lawsuit is still ongoing; however, Lesnar, who was also named in the former WWE employee’s lawsuit, has resurfaced on television programming for the Stamford-based promotion after being kept away for a substantial period.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Grant criticized Lesnar’s return at SummerSlam this past Sunday, as he was also allegedly a part of the sexual misconduct case filed against McMahon. According to the spokesperson, the former UFC fighter’s comeback will “backfire” for the company.
Brock Lesnar is among the few wrestlers with whom Vince McMahon shares a personal relationship. During an old Howard Stern Show appearance, the former WWE CEO had revealed that some wrestlers had the freedom to approach him personally to discuss matters. While Lesnar was one of those individuals, Hulk Hogan was another. The Hulkster was one of McMahon’s oldest friends and arguably one of the most influential wrestlers who worked for him.
After Hogan’s Hollywood breakout starring opposite Sylvester Stallone in Rocky III (1982), he found success in pro wrestling. Hulkamania ran wild when he was working for the American Wrestling Association (AWA) in 1983. There were sold-out shows when he was in the main event.
A year later, McMahon’s promotion signed Hogan, where The Immortal One wrestled The Iron Sheik, successfully challenging for the WWF Championship. The rest is history.
