Vince McMahon has already completed one stunning comeback in 2023, but he could be set for another.
Despite previously claiming that he wouldn’t featuring on-screen, McMahon made regular appearances between Survivor Series 2021 and WrestleMania 38. Incredibly, McMahon even wrestled at the spectacular defeating Pat McAfee. After that match McMahon disappeared from TV before appearing on the June 17th, 2022 episode of SmackDown as an act of defiance following allegations of sexual misconduct and hush money payments.
Three days later McMahon appeared on Raw to announce a John Cena appearance, before introducing Cena on the June 27th episode of the red brand. Less than a month later, McMahon stepped down as WWE Chairman following even more serious allegations.
However, McMahon returned to the WWE Board of Directors on January 6th, 2023, and was elected as Executive Chairman on January 10th. The man himself has stated that his return is purely to help facilitate the sale of the company, although rumours persist that he could get back involved with creative.
Vince McMahon Coming To The Royal Rumble?
It has now been reported by Jake Skudder of Fight Fans that there have been discussions about McMahon returning to television. The report claims that McMahon could even appear at the Royal Rumble, although it’s unclear whether any potential appearance would be in person or in a pre-taped segment.
Vince McMahon’s WWE return hasn’t passed off without incident. After it was confirmed that two Board members quit over him coming back, it was revealed that he is also facing a class action lawsuit in relation to his return. The report states that a WWE shareholder is suing McMahon for the way which he forced his way back onto the Board.
