WWE Chairman Vince McMahon reportedly missed the most recent episode of Monday Night RAW.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, McMahon was absent from the taping at the FTX Arena in Miami, leaving Bruce Prichard in charge of running the show. This was the second show in a row that the chairman has missed, having not attended SmackDown on September 3rd.
The news comes after Vince McMahon was reportedly “extremely unhappy” with the original script for the previous week’s show. This resulted in the script being ripped up several times as McMahon asked for new ideas.
After dismissing all of the ideas put his way, McMahon then re-formatted the show himself.
The September 6th episode of RAW was dominated by Tag Team Turmoil. The match featuring AJ Styles & Omos, New Day, Jinder Mahal & Veer, Viking Raiders, Lucha House Party, T-Bar & Mace, Mustafa Ali & Mansoor and MVP & Bobby Lashley.
At the end of a marathon match which saw the New Day feature heavily, MVP and Lashley saw off AJ Styles and Omos. The WWE Champion and MVP will now take on RK-Bro on September 13th.
The show opened with RK-Bro celebrating their win over Lashley and MVP from the previous week, although they were quickly interrupted. After taking an RKO the previous week, Lashley said that he wanted to face Randy Orton one-on-one. In response, The Viper said that he would be happy to take on Lashley but only if the WWE Championship was on the line. This led to the match being set for Extreme Rules.
Elsewhere on the show, Sheamus defeated Drew McIntyre to earn a shot at Damian Priest’s United States Title.
Despite being pinned, McIntyre got the last laugh by hitting Sheamus with his mask and landing a Claymore.
