If the wrestling world wasn’t crazy enough, a new report suggests WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is set for a shocking return to the ring at WrestleMania 38.
John Pollock of POST Wrestling has reported that sources “with knowledge of the situation” confirmed that McMahon is likely to begin a program with SmackDown announcer and former NFL star Pat McAfee which will culminate in an official match on the WrestleMania card.
Vince McMahon will be a guest on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, 3rd of March. The appearance will be McMahon’s first full interview since 2014 when he was interviewed on the WWE Network by Steve Austin.
The most recent guest on the show was Brock Lesnar. During the interview, Lesnar opened up about his struggles with anxiety and his wrestling career to date. Seth Rollins has also previously been a guest.
The seventy-six-year-old WWE Chairman last competed in an official match in the company twelve years ago at WrestleMania 26. On that occasion, Vince McMahon rekindled his rivalry with Bret Hart as The Hitman defeated McMahon in a No Holds Barred match.
During his in-ring WWE career, McMahon has had some unlikely triumphs, including becoming both WWE and ECW Champion at different times and winning the 1999 Royal Rumble match.
Pat McAfee has competed in two bouts during his WWE career, both of which took place on NXT. He first fought in a losing effort against Adam Cole at NXT TakeOver: XXX before captaining The Kings Of Wrestling for a War Games match against The Undisputed ERA in December 2020.
