Talent was kept waiting ahead of Raw as Vince McMahon made changes to the script.
Following the September 11th episode of Raw, it was reported that McMahon was back to work and making changes. The Executive Director had been taking a break from his WWE duties after undergoing back surgery in July.
However, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McMahon had been back in the fold for a number of weeks. A source claimed that Raw “needed a lot of work” and Triple H was also ringing the changes alongside McMahon.
“Vince McMahon is back from his leave after spinal surgery and actually has been for several weeks although it wasn’t talked about much until this past week. He was not in Roanoke for the 9/11 Raw show but was part of the production meeting and changed the show multiple times. He has been part of the meetings for weeks now.
There were changes throughout the day and the writers kept telling the talent that they don’t have a final script when talent wanted to know what they were doing, saying they were waiting for Vince.
Another person high up told us that the show needed a lot of work and that some of the changes were also Paul Levesque along with those of Vince and that the changes were more positive, but the talent was waiting for their final marching orders.”
WWE Talents Hoping Vince McMahon Steps Back From Creative
In the same issue of the Observer, Meltzer added that some talents are hoping that Vince McMahon will step back from creative now the merger with UFC is complete. However, it appears that creative will continue to run as it has in recent months with Triple H running things and McMahon having the ultimate final say.
