Vince McMahon Heavily Edited In WWE 2K24

Vince McMahon continues to be erased from WWE history.

Back in January 2024, Vince McMahon was accused of sex trafficking and multiple counts of sexual assault by former WWE employee Janel Grant. McMahon would resign from his position as Executive Chairman while still denying all allegations.

Following on from his resignation, the company have done all it can to erase Vince McMahon from its history, including removing all of his profiles from company websites and making no mention of him on weekly TV when discussing historical events. This has also extended to other licenced projects.

Gamers have been highly anticipating the release of the latest game in the franchise WWE 2K24. Along with the traditional elements and some exciting new features, the Showcase mode lets the player relive 40 years of WrestleMania. With McMahon being a huge part of the marquee event, many were curious as to how he would be portrayed in the game, if at all.

Screenshots from the showcase mode have begun to circulate online to detail the fate of McMahon in the game. Looking back to WrestleMania 35, which saw Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair compete in the all-women’s main event for the first time, many remember McMahon inserting Flair into the match on top of the entrance ramp. However, as seen in the screenshot below, McMahon’s face has been blurred out of the announcement:

A lot of blurring is seen within the title, including the scratch WWF logo and many former referees. Additionally, fans have noted that former US President and Hall of Famer Donald Trump is seen blurred when sat in the audience for WrestleMania 5, which saw Hulk Hogan face Randy Savage in the main event.

In a new interview, a WWE 2K24 producer has explained how the Superstar ratings are determined.

Vince McMahon Not Entirely Blurred Out From WWE 2K24

Although McMahon has been blurred out of some WrestleMania video clips, he is still present in one notable match. One of the biggest WrestleMania matches of all time took place in 2001, with Steve Austin facing The Rock with the title on the line. McMahon was integral in ensuring The Rattlesnake was victorious that night. In this footage, McMahon is seen without any blurring and is referred to as Mr. McMahon in the voiceover by Corey Graves.

The fate of Brock Lesnar in 2K24, who was also implicated in the McMahon allegations, but not directly named, has also been determined. Although Lesnar’s streak-conquering match with The Undertaker is part of the showcase, and players can play as Lesnar in the bout, the former World Champion nor McMahon do not feature nor are playable in any other game modes.

In recent news, WWE are reportedly making moves to bring back Brock Lesnar.
