Vince McMahon Details The ‘Philosophical’ Difference Between WWE And WCW

Producer Of Vince McMahon Docuseries Elaborates On Decision Made Regarding Content Of The Show

Vince McMahon opens up on the difference between WWE and WCW.

The late 1990s saw the emergence of the Monday-night wars between Raw and WCW Nitro. Both the brands went heads on against each other looking for television ranking supremacy. Although WCW topped the charts for 83 weeks straight, the Stamford-based promotion later took over. This war had once worried Vince McMahon about the future of his promotion.

Speaking on the recently released, ‘Mr.McMahon‘ docu-series on Netflix, Vince McMahon detailed the philosophical differences between the two promotions. Fans saw several wrestlers jump promotions and gain popularity. Sharing his mind on the docu-series, he claimed:

Ted’s philosophy was ‘Let’s go hurt. I’m gonna hurt my competitor.’ That’s not mine. I wanna go compete.”

McMahon claimed that while Bischoff and Ted Burner looked to hurt its competition, he always wanted to compete. However, former WCW President Eric Bischoff had his point of view on the situation.

Eh, stealing is in the eye of the beholder, isn’t it? It’s funny because immediately, Vince went into sympathetic babyface mode. He started whining like a little schoolgirl with that. ‘Big bad billionaire Ted’s trying to run us out of business. Big bad billionaire Ted is trying to hurt this small little family-run business. They raided our talent.’ Vince did the exact same thing to Verne Gagne and the AWA and other territories. He literally went into those territories and offered their talent better deals.”

Vince McMahon Has A Brutal Advice For Business Families

In the same docu-series, Vince McMahon also shared brutal advice he had for business families. McMahon claimed that it is better to not involve family in the business.

Everyone has to understand their place. When a family member thinks, ‘Wait a minute. I’ve got this…’ They don’t quite have the vision as someone who’s grown and created a business. They have a different vision, and it may work, but you know what? We’re gonna go with my vision. I would advise anyone, don’t bring your family into the business. It’s brutal. Somewhere along the line, it’s going to explode.”
