Vince McMahon Back In Charge Of WWE Raw – “He Was Running TV”

Vince McMahon WWE Raw

Vince McMahon’s return to full WWE power is complete.

McMahon came back to WWE in January after retiring in July 2022 surrounded by multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. Having seen an earlier return blocked, McMahon reinstated himself to the Board of Directors along with two associates. Two more Board members quit and Stephanie McMahon also left her role.

It was later claimed that McMahon wouldn’t be involved in creative and was only on hand to sell the company.

A deal concerning the future of WWE was finally made on April 3rd, with the company merging with UFC under the Endeavor umbrella. This time McMahon revealed not only would he be staying on as Executive Chairman in the new publicly listed company, but he would also be involved with creative “higher up.”

Despite this, there have now been multiple reports that McMahon was running the latest episode of Raw.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider noted that McMahon got “more and more involved” as the show went on, adding there was a “huge negative shift in morale.” It was claimed that the feeling within the company is that McMahon would be “overseeing everything” going forward.

This was followed by a report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, which stated that McMahon was “running TV.” Meltzer noted that “it will be what it was before.”

“He was running TV tonight,” Meltzer said. “He’s back. It’s what it was. It will be what it was before. And if people think that was bad, it will be bad. And that’s just the way it is.

Levesque will be head of creative and will be doing the busywork and all that stuff. Vince is going to have the final say in everything.”

Vince McMahon Forced Mid-Show Changes To Raw

One of the hallmarks of the Vince McMahon era was frequent re-writes at tapings often while the show was in progress. Meltzer noted that this was the case again on April 3rd, a departure from life between July and April with McMahon in more of a background role.

In the main event segment, Brock Lesnar turned heel, delivering a vicious beatdown on Cody Rhodes.
