Former NXT Tag Team Champion Viktor has revealed that he no longer speaks to former Ascension tag team partner Konnor.
The ominous duo spent 364 days as NXT Tag Team Champions having defeated the team of Corey Graves and Adrian Neville, now known as Pac, on the 2nd October 2013 edition of NXT.
The pair would take on all comers in their title run, including a victory over Too Cool at NXT: Arrival, the brand’s first ever live special.
They would go on to drop the gold to The Lucha Dragos in September 2014 as they prepared for a switch to the main roster, but it was a move that never hit the heights that the company had hoped.
The highlight would prove to be a big victory at the 2015 Royal Rumble event over legendary former WWE Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws. The pairing of Billy Gunn and ‘Road Dogg’ Jesse James are one of the most recognisable teams in WWE history, although Road Dogg recently stated his belief that the pair would not receive WWE Hall Of Fame recognition for their tag team efforts.
It would not be until February 2015 that the team would suffer their first main roster defeat after being eliminated from a tag team gauntlet match at the hands of Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan.
The duo would be released on December 8th 2019. Viktor revealed in a recent interview with PWMania that the pair no longer speak, but insists there is no bad blood:
“We don’t keep in touch at all as of late. We haven’t spoken to each other in quite a while. There’s no bad blood there by any means.
I think the first little while we enjoyed what we did. And then after a while there was so much hassle with things that I think it just started to take its toll on us.
And I know, he just kind of went to do his separate thing. And I kind of didn’t want to do anything for a while. Like I just need to chill, I really was bitter. Bitter is the best way to put it, kind of, but I was just burned out, super burned out.
When I think about all the teachers that I’ve seen and worked with who have sat and watched with and worked with a million different wrestlers and all the hours of wrestling that they’ve ever seen when it’s like — just in my time, I know how much I’ve seen. And it’s just like, wow, I just needed to take a really big break”
Did Viktor and Konnor Appear At WrestleMania?
Both men competed on multiple occasions in the ‘Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal’ at WrestleMania, but neither could secure a career-altering victory.
They suffered defeat in their final televised WWE match, a WWE Main Event outing against Heavy Machinery (Otis and Tucker).
