Victoria On Her Most Recent WWE Appearance – “They Paid Very Well”

Victoria

Former WWE Women’s Champion Victoria has opened up about her most recent return to the company.

Despite retiring from in-ring competition in 2019, the former WWE and IMPACT star made a shock return to action in the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble.

The return marked Victoria’s first appearance inside a WWE ring in 12 years. The star entered at number ten, lasting over seven minutes before being eliminated by Shayna Baszler.

Since retiring the former IMPACT Knockouts Champion linked up with Mickie James and So Cal Val on GAW TV. On the show the self-titled ‘Grown Ass Women’ discuss everything from entertainment to lifestyle and of course a little bit of wrestling for good measure.

Speaking with Taylor Wilde of the Taylor On podcast, Victoria discussed how she joined GAW TV and her latest WWE appearance. Victoria explained that while she’s retired she still feels in touch with wrestling, but would only return to the ring for something like the Royal Rumble.

“I still feel like I’m part of it [Wrestling]”

“When you have a podcast, you’re still kind of involved in wrestling. I’m retired, I won’t get in the ring anymore unless it’s like the Royal Rumble. WWE is a big platform and they paid very well. I’m not saying hundreds of thousands of dollars or anything like that, it was more than what I’d make from guest appearances on Indy shows. I think Mickie James was supposed to do GAW TV, they were talking about it with Alica Fox. Alicia kind of has a private life and wants to be on the backburner. She reached out to So Cal Val and then my name came up and they reached out and were like, ‘Do you want to be part of the show?’ ‘Yeah, when are we starting?’ ‘Are you serious, do you want to hear what it’s about?’ I go, ‘No, if I get to talk to my friends on video chat.'”

After being called up to WWE’s main roster in 2002, Victoria went on to win the Women’s Title on two occasions. The star would later leave WWE in 2009 before going on to enjoy a successful run in TNA, winning the Knockouts Title five times.

Reflecting on her brief comeback in the Royal Rumble in February, Victoria revealed that she doubted her in-ring skils in the run up to the match.
