Update On Vince McMahon’s WrestleMania 38 Match

Vince McMahon

A new report says Vince McMahon’s WrestleMania 38 match is currently on the format on the show but envisions a lot of “smoke and mirrors” in play.

Rumours have recently begun swirling that the 76-year-old WWE Chairman could be set for a huge return to the ring at WrestleMania, twelve years after he last competed against Bret Hart at WrestleMania 26.

As if that wasn’t an incredible story as it is, McMahon’s rumoured opponent for the event is current SmackDown announcer and former Indianapolis Colt, Pat McAfee. McMahon will be a guest on an upcoming edition of The Pat McAfee Show which could see the seeds set for a showdown on The Grandest Stage Of Them All.

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio has commented on the match and seems to indicate that it’s likely to take place but adds that it can’t possibly be a standard one-on-one wrestling match:

“It’s a match on the format for the show, obviously it’s gonna be a lot of smoke and mirrors, they’re gonna use Vince’s name and Pat McAfee’s name to sell some tickets. They got a lot of tickets left to sell, so that’s the basic premise.”

Meltzer adds that McMahon returning to the ring is “probably” the Austin-level surprise yet to be announced for the show with Stone Cold Steve Austin also expected to return to action at WrestleMania 38 in his home state of Texas.
