It was reported yesterday that Eva Marie was set for an imminent return to WWE and now more information has come out regarding her status with the promotion.
Although she was not on Raw last night as had been suggested could be the case, Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that Marie was backstage at the show undergoing medical tests so she was permitted to enter the ThunderDome.
According to Johnson, Marie and WWE came to terms on a contact almost a month ago, but he notes that there is no confirmation on whether she is returning as a wrestler, manager or personality.
The 36-year-old last wrestled for WWE in 2016, losing to Becky Lynch on the SummerSlam Heatwave tour in July of that year.
Having initially joined the promotion in 2013, she was thrust onto main roster TV too early due to her appearances on Total Divas and was sent down to NXT in 2015.
Marie improved on the black and gold brand enough that WWE called her back up to the main roster in March 2016 and became a SmackDown exclusive star in July, debuted a new heat-seeking heel gimmick where she would make excuses to duck out of matches.
A Wellness Policy violation in August marked the end of her run on television and after being unused for a year, Marie announced that she and WWE had parted ways in August 2017, following which she embarked upon an acting and television career.
Which brand Marie will be part of remains to be seen, but it seems safe to rule out NXT as her likely destination due to her attendance at the ThunderDome, because if she was going to NXT then her testing would have been conducted in the Capitol Wrestling Center instead.
