After Rey Mysterio missed the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, a new report has offered an update on the former World Champion.
On the Raw after WrestleMania, Rey and Dominik Mysterio were attacked by a debuting Veer Mahaan. The assault came after Dominik had been quickly defeated by The Miz. With Dominik gathering himself in the ring, Veer arrived on the scene to hand out some more punishment. He threw Rey to one side before locking in a modified Camel Clutch on Dominik to leave him laying.
This led to the announcement of a match between Rey Mysterio and Veer the following week, April 11th. However, the elder Mysterio was missing from the show, with Veer instead taking on and defeating Dominik in short order.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now offered an update on Rey. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer noted that the Lucha Libre legend was absent due to a “medical issue.”
“He’s a medical issue, It’s not false advertising or they changed their mind. It was he was unavailable tonight. So they put Dominik in the place and Dominik just got destroyed. So, they could probably do Rey in a week or two.”
Another match changed on the night was the Women’s Tag Team Championship bout between the champions Sasha Banks & Naomi and Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan.
On the show it was announced that Ripley was missing as she was “in protocol,” although no further explanation was given. With Ripley absent, Morgan was defeated by Naomi in a singles match.
The Tag Team Title match has been rescheduled for next week, April 18th.
Elsewhere on the show, Cody Rhodes wrestled his first match on Raw in six years, defeating The Miz. After the match, he was confronted by Seth Rollins who challenged him to a match at WrestleMania Backlash. The bout has since been made official by WWE.
