A new report has offered an update on Triple H’s current role with WWE.
On June 22nd it was reported that Triple H had attended the WWE Preformance Center in Orlando and told staff that he was back.
At the time it was unclear as to what he actually meant, but that was the exact wording used.
This led many fans to believe that one of the founding father’s of NXT would be returning to the brand he helped play such a huge role in building. However, it appears that this may not be the case.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that Triple H’s meant that he was back in the office, but hasn’t been working with NXT 2.0 directly. Meltzer adds that the brand is still being run by Shawn Michaels along with a small creative staff.
“It appears that when Paul Levesque was talking to the folks at NXT and said he was back, and nobody knew what that meant, it appeared just to mean he’s back working in the office. He has not been doing anything direct with NXT, which is still being run by Shawn Michaels with a small creative staff for television. Levesque has not been at the Tuesday night tapings.”
From it’s creation in 2010 until September 2021, Triple H worked as the Executive Producer for WWE’s developmental brand NXT. He is widely credited with the success of the brand, while numerous WWE Superstars both past and present have praised his work during this period.
Triple H took a leave of absence from WWE in September 2021 after suffering a serious “cardiac event.” The results of which led him to end his in-ring career.
While he was recovering NXT became NXT 2.0 and numerous figures who worked with him on the show, including William Regal were released.
