Earlier this week on NXT, the referee would be forced to stop a match between Tony D’Angelo and Wes Lee, with D’Angelo being on the losing side of things.
Catching D’Angelo with a drop toehold, Lee would send him right into the middle turnbuckle. While taking the bump, D’Angelo would tweak his knee and was unable to continue the match. As a result, the referee would end the contest, giving the win to a visibly disappointed Wes Lee.
The NXT episode on Tuesday was recorded two weeks ago, with the results already being made available to the general public prior to airing, however, there haven’t been any updates on D’Angelo’s injury until Thursday.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Tony D’Angelo’s injury isn’t actually “that bad” and that he won’t need surgery.
“From what I understand, it’s not that bad, in the sense that I don’t think it’s major surgery or anything, ‘cause I’ve heard he’ll be back sooner than you would think. But he is hurt.”
