Update On Third Match Between Cody Rhodes And Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes face off at WWE Night of Champions

Following the news that Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar will meet in the ring one more time, it has been reported there will be an added wrinkle to the match.

The pair’s rivalry began when The Beast Incarnate brutally assaulted Rhodes on the April 3rd edition of Raw. The attack led to a match at Backlash which Cody won by turning a Kimura Lock into a pin on Lesnar.

Enraged by the loss, Lesnar attacked Rhodes again the next night on Raw, leading to another bout being announced for Night of Champions. In the build to the match, Lesnar “broke” Rhodes’ arm, but The American Nightmare refused to back down and went ahead with the fight, only to be forced to submit to the Kimura Lock.

Brock Lesnar vs Cody Rhodes III reportedly happening at SummerSlam

On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Rhodes and Lesnar will do battle again at SummerSlam.

Now, on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez has followed up on the news, saying he has been told the bout will have a stipulation “we have not seen in a while.”

“I have been told that it is gonna be something. It’s not just gonna be a straight match. They’ve got some sort of stip that allegedly we have not seen in a while and that means not Hell in a Cell.

“So I wonder what stip they might be coming up with for the third match between these two. [Laughs] I hope it’s not ring of fire.”

While the match might not happen until the Biggest Party of the Summer, Rhodes has wasted no time in making his intentions clear. On May 29th, he laid down an open challenge to The Conqueror, asking if he could really walk away with the score sitting at 1-1.

However, before he gets to Lesnar, the former Intercontinental Champion has a surprising challenge in the form of Dominik Mysterio, who interrupted his recent appearance on Miz TV and accused him of being a bad father before slapping him and retreating behind Rhea Ripley.
