Roman Reigns’ part-time schedule has been a huge topic of conversation for well over a year.
As the star hit the biggest run of his career, he began appearing on television less and less and now very rarely wrestles on live events. For context, Reigns wrestled only 52 times in 2022, with just 23 of these matches coming after he became the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Reigns’ schedule has shown no signs of getting busier, as the star has only wrestled four matches in 2023 as of May 5th.
WWE’s next Premium Live Event is Backlash and the show is set to take place on May 6th in Puerto Rico, however, Reigns will not be in attendance.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has offered an update on when fans might see the Tribal Chief back in action. Meltzer confirmed that Reigns is booked to appear at Night of Champions and Money In The Bank in July. Based on his schedule to date, it is likely that Reigns will wrestle on both of these shows.
“Reigns is booked for both the Saudi Arabia PPV on 5/27 and the Money in the Bank show in London on 7/1”
At Night of Champions, Reigns’ World Title run will officially hit 1000 days. The Head of the Table won the Universal title back on August 30th, 2020. Also at the event, WWE will crown a new World Heavyweight Champion, with the new championship being exclusive to Raw with Reigns drafted to SmackDown.
Cody Rhodes Still Has Eyes Set On Roman Reigns
Despite Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes now being on separate brands, the American Nightmare hasn’t forgotten about his WrestleMania 39 defeat. When asked in a recent interview about his rivalry with Reigns, Rhodes said that despite being on Raw, “the goal is the same.”
Cody Rhodes will be back in action at Backlash when he takes on Brock Lesnar.
