Robert Roode has been absent from WWE programming for a short while now and now, ‘The Glorious One’ has detailed why.

Though his absence has hardly caused a gaping hole in the WWE product, fans have speculated as to why Robert Roode has been absent from WWE for the last few months. Roode hasn’t been in a televised match since April, but he’s not been on a card at all since June.

Taking to Instagram, the one-time WWE United States Champion revealed that he’d undergone surgery with the Birmingham, Alabama-based Southlake Orthopaedics. No exact details were divulged as to what, exactly, the surgery was needed for.

Robert Roode last wrestled on the 25 June untelevised Saturday Night’s Main Event card, losing to Omos. This came around a month after Roode reverted to his beloved ‘Glorious’ gimmick, complete with iconic entrance music, doing so on 21 May in Canton, Ohio.

Signing with WWE in 2016 after rising to fame in IMPACT Wrestling, Robert Roode has struggled to fit into WWE’s main roster environment, largely floundering around the mid-card scene since August 2017. 2022 brought with it a return to NXT alongside Dirty Dawgs partner Dolph Ziggler, as ‘The Showoff’ captured the NXT Championship.

It’s currently unknown when Robert Roode will return to in-ring WWE action.
