Update On Possible Brand Switches In WWE Draft

Braun Strowman Raw Underground

One day removed for the second night of the annual WWE Draft, fans and wrestlers are preparing themselves for more monumental moves tomorrow night on Raw.

Following a memorable first night of the Draft on SmackDown that saw Seth Rollins move to SmackDown, AJ Styles head back to Raw just a few months after switching to SmackDown, and New Day split across two brands for the first time in six years, there are still further big moves expected this coming Monday.

One switch that appears to be finalised is Braun Strowman’s return to Raw, which was confirmed by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer noted that although plans often change quickly when it comes to WWE, Strowman moving to Raw was absolutely the idea and is expected to happen tomorrow night – despite him already having a match with Roman Reigns confirmed for next week’s SmackDown.

The other name big name expected to make a move to the red brand is The Fiend. This was first reported by the ever-reliable WrestleVotes on Friday morning, along with the fact that Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns would stay put on their respective brands and Seth Rollins would move to SmackDown, which all proved to be correct.

Going the other direction, again according to Meltzer, are Raw Tag Team Champions The Street Profits, which makes sense as Raw currently has two sets of tag title holders since SmackDown Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were drafted to the red brand on Friday.

This would mean couple Montez Ford and Bianca Belair (who swapped Raw for SmackDown on Friday) would be kept together on the same brand, which has had to be a consideration for WWE in recent years after the backlash it received from its performers when it split several real-life couples in past drafts, which then forced them to backtrack a few days later.

That being said, it does not appear the promotion is sticking rigidly to that rule across the board, as Jimmy Uso – the husband of Naomi, who was drafted to Raw on Friday – is expected to stay on SmackDown as part of the ongoing Roman Reigns storyline. It has been pointed out that since neither brand is currently touring and all shows are in the same location, being on separate brands makes little difference anymore.
