Update On “Non-Negiotable” Request Adam Cole Made To WWE

Adam Cole

The longest-reigning NXT Champion in history, Adam Cole is now a free agent.

Cole’s latest short-term WWE contract expired on August 27th, and it was later confirmed that he had not re-signed with the company.

It had earlier come to light that Cole’s contract with WWE had actually expired in early July. The star then agreed a new short-term deal that would take him through SummerSlam weekend and NXT TakeOver: 36. TakeOver came and went and Cole was defeated by Kyle O’Reilly in what proved to be his last match with the black and gold brand.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Adam Cole made one “non-negotiable” point to WWE before his contract expired in July.

Back in October, it was reported that WWE requested that talent sever ties with all third-party platforms including Twitch. It was a move which reportedly played a part in Zelina Vega leaving the company.

The new report from Fightful suggests that in the lead up to his contract expiring, Cole told WWE that he was not willing to give up his Twitch channel as many others had been asked to do.

“The WWE source we originally spoke to on the matter called it “non-negotiable” for him, and even said that higher ups weren’t excited to talk to him about it in general, because they didn’t have much leverage on the situation, and that was even before they knew his contract came up in July.”

Adam Cole signed for WWE in 2017, joining NXT alongside Kyle O’Reilly and the now released Bobby Fish. The trio dubbed ‘The Undisputed Era’ quickly set about dominating the black and gold brand. The group won the NXT Tag Team Titles on three occasions while Cole also captured the North American and NXT Championship’s. Cole still holds the record as the longest reigning NXT Champion in history with a reign spanning over 400 days.

In recent months Cole has repeatedly been linked with a move to AEW, home to his girlfriend Britt Baker. Following Cole’s final match in NXT, The Young Bucks, who have a long-standing relationship with Cole, changed their bio on social media to a new video clip teasing Cole joining AEW.
