Lita has been absent from WWE programming since the unprovoked attack by her former best friend Trish Stratus on the April 10th edition of Monday Night Raw.
Stratus took out one-half of the then-Women’s Tag Team Champions as part of her master plan to take down Becky Lynch after she felt disrespected by the Man.
Stratus replaced the injured luchadoras to defend the tag team titles, which they lost to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. After the loss, Stratus blindsided Lynch and then levelled her with a Chick Kick.
Prior to the attack, the former Women’s Tag Team Champions partnered with Stratus at WrestleMania 39 in a multi-generational six-women tag team match. However, something about the match didn’t sit well with the seven-time women’s champion as it made her feel like a “sidekick” and “nostalgia act”.
In the weeks following the WrestleMania outing, Stratus took her anger on her former teammates. Since the attack, neither of the victims has returned to WWE. Lynch confirmed she would be absent from the April 17th episode of Raw while her former partner has been silent.
Will Lita Return To WWE?
In an update on the Hall of Famer’s status, PWInisder Elite has said that while she has not been around any recent television tapings nor have they heard of any plans for her return it makes sense that she’ll be involved in the Stratus and Lynch storyline at some point.
The outlet also mentioned that while there are no plans in place to do so, a legends match such as Lita vs Stratus certainly fits the modus operandi of the Saudi Arabia events, which could see them go in that direction if creative plans allow.
Lita’s last singles match was at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia. In 2022, she challenged Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship, it was her first singles outing since 2006.
Stratus’ last singles outing was in 2019 against Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
