Lacey Evans made her return to WWE on the January 27th edition of SmackDown, making short work of Jazmin Allure.
Two weeks later, the star also defeated Cameron Harress in just over two minutes, showcasing a new aggressive style.
Before these matches, however, Evans hadn’t been seen on TV since the November 11th episode of SmackDown. On that occasion, she competed in a six-pack challenge to crown a new number-one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Prior to that, Evans wrestled twice in September, which in turn were her first matches since July.
Her sporadic appearances have led to some thinking WWE has issues with Evans’ performance, however, a new report says this isn’t the case.
Lacey Evans does not have heat backstage in WWE
According to Fightful Select, any online speculation about Evans’ status in the company is false.
“There is nothing to odd online speculation from non-credible Twitter accounts saying WWE isn’t happy with Lacey Evans’ performance.”
While there may not be heat with the star in WWE, the same can’t be said for the company’s fanbase.
During her entrance for her return match, Evans approached a disabled fan as if to give a high-five before withdrawing her hand and cockily walking away. While some have suggested that the incident was just Evans being a heel, others have hit out at the star. Her actions were described as “disgraceful” and some fans called for her to be fired.
That incident came just over a month after Evans sparked a storm on social media when she shared a video that made outrageous claims about ADD and Autism before implying there was a link between them and processed foods.
Evans signed with WWE in 2016 following a career in the United States Marines. After a stint in NXT, Evans arrived on the main roster in 2019 and has appeared on both Raw and SmackDown. Her highest profile storyline to date came in early 2021 when she became aligned with Ric Flair.
Flair managed Evans as she battled his daughter Charlotte, but the storyline came to an abrupt end with Evans announcing she was pregnant in February.
