Mojo Rawley provides fans with a bit of an update on the wrongdoing of WES following their cancelled debut event.
Former WWE star, Mojo Rawley was scheduled for his first big appearance following his release from the company when he was announced for Wrestling Entertainment Series’ debut event, this past July. However, unfortunately for Rawley, and several other notable stars, the event was cancelled due to a reported payment issue in addition to a lack of ticket sales.
When speaking with Wrestling Inc., Rawley addressed the event’s cancelation:
“I know where they were trying to go, we were thrilled with the opportunity that was at hand. They had some great financial backers, a great vision for the product — it actually went pretty hand in hand with a lot of the visions that Steve [Kaye] and I had for professional wrestling and the impact where we would have liked to have to have seen it go. We loved the fact that this was going to be a traveling show, one promotion that travelled the world internationally and hit some markets that are frequently travelled and exhausted by all the other wrestling promotions.”
The event, originally slated for June 4, was pushed back to July 9 before ultimately being nixed altogether and was set to feature several notable names including the likes of the aforementioned Rawley, the former Nia Jax, Lina Fanene Adam Scherr (FKA Braun Strowman), Deonna Purrazzo, Chelsea Green, Matthew Rehwoldt, in addition to MMA and Kickboxing legend, Alistair Overeem.
on the future, if there is one for WES, Rawley said he’s spoken to the former Authors of Pain, now Legion of Pain, who own the company, and while they’re disappointed with how the company’s debut fell apart, they still plan on moving forward with the promotion:
“I’ve talked to those guys. They plan on doing more shows, or having a show I guess you could say. But finding a time to make this work, I don’t know where they stand with that currently. But it would be interesting. But man I can tell you the thought process behind it, and of course, I am only saying part of their plans. They had some cool surprises lined up too. It was a really cool concept.”
ITR will provide any updates to the status of WES as they become available.
