Drew McIntyre made a big return at WWE Money In The Bank, but what does the future hold for the former WWE Champion?
McIntyre expressed his interest in a different set of gold in WWE when he came out to confront the Intercontinental Champion Gunther at the O2 Arena in London this past Saturday, but the current relationship he has with the company remains uncertain. However, a new report from Fightful Select states that sources in the company say that McIntyre hasn’t signed a new deal.
Even if those reports are true, WWE has to be feeling optimistic about securing McIntyre to a new deal if they featured him at the PLE. He has established an interesting history with Gunther, particularly after having a memorable triple threat Intercontinental Title match with him and Sheamus. Gunther came out on top and much like Roman Reigns, is establishing a near-historic run with the title.
Triple H Addresses The WWE Return Of Drew McIntyre
McIntyre was a topic for discussion during the Money In The Bank Press Conference as Triple H was asked about the star’s return following an extended absence. He was dismissive of the reports that there were creative issues with McIntyre and expressed a desire to keep Drew around in the company for the remainder of his career. However, Fightful was able to confirm that “good creative” is a factor for McIntyre as him and Triple H were in constant contact as McIntyre recovered from injury and dealt with the unfortunate passing of his sister-in-law.
In a new update in October 2023, Drew McIntyre is still yet to sign a new deal.
