Update On Asuka’s WWE Status

A fresh report has offered an update on the status of Asuka, who is yet to return to action following an injury.

Former Raw Women’s Champion Asuka hasn’t been seen inside a WWE ring since Money In The Bank on July 18th 2021. While there has been official confirmation from WWE regarding the reason for Asuka’s absence, it has been reported that the Japanese star was dealing with an injury.

In the lead-up to the 2022 Royal Rumble it was suggested that the former champion had been cleared to return and there was a chance that should would be appearing at the event. However, the show came and went without the former NXT star. A report following the Royal Rumble noted that Asuka was considered “not physically ready” to return.

A new update from Fightful Select has now attempted to shed some more light on the situation. The report states that as of February, Asuka is still listed as “inactive.” It should be noted that Xavier Woods has been removed from the inactive list, but it yet to reappear on television.

With regard to Asuka, one WWE source said that the optimistic return date for the star is “around spring.” No creative has been “cooked up” for the former NXT Women’s Champion as she’s still unavailable. Top talents within the company are said to have “not heard an update on Asuka in a while.”

The Empress of Tomorrow signed with WWE in 2015, before going on to become the longest reigning NXT Women’s Champion in history. In the process she remained undefeated during her entire two-year stay with the brand.

In September 2017, the star moved to the main roster, where she again enjoyed huge success becoming WWE’s third Women’s Triple Crown Champion. The only Women’s Title she hasn’t won during her time with WWE is the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship, which was introduced after she left the brand.
